The Philadelphia Eagles have had to deal with their fair share of injuries going into the postseason. It seems quarterback Carson Wentz is among the players that will be unavailable versus the Chicago Bears.

Wentz has been nursing a stress fracture in his back since Week 15. According to Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk, he has officially been ruled out for this week's Wild Card matchup in Chicago:

Their quarterback who is dealing with a stress fracture in his back is among the four players ruled out for Sunday’s wild card game against the Bears.

The update should hardly come as any surprise. Philadelphia has already made it known that Wentz will be their franchise quarterback of the future. It would not make much sense for them to risk further injury to their most valuable player. Furthermore, they do not really need to with quarterback Nick Foles as the backup.

Foles has managed to pick up where he left off last season. He currently leads the NFL in both completion percentage (77.0) and passing yards (962) since Week 15. More importantly, he has already established himself as a viable option under center following an impressive championship run in the playoffs last year. He now finds himself in familiar territory to lead the Eagles once again.

There has been plenty of speculation regarding Philadelphia's future at the quarterback position. There is no question that Wentz is the more talented option. However, there is no denying that this team tends to play better when Foles is under center. Either way, this could be the last time the Eagles have the luxury of trusting their backup since he is poised to become a starter elsewhere this offseason.
