After three years of waiting, Stranger Things 4 landed on Netflix a couple of months ago and took the breath of everyone away. Its final two episodes this month were even better as it sets up the series for its climatic fifth season soon. But in all of the action and excitement, it's pretty easy to miss a couple of key details and trivia that were scattered all throughout the nine episodes. We take a look below at the best Stranger Things easter eggs you might have missed.
The best 10 Stranger Things Easter Eggs you missed
10. Will Byer's school project
At the start of Stranger Things 4, Joyce Byers has taken Will, Jonathan, and Eleven far away from Hawkins to start a new life together. Will and Eleven, in particular, have grown closer since they go to the same school together. At this point, we see the once-victim of the Mind Flayer carrying his project for science class featuring a poster and diorama of Alan Turing.

Apart from his awesome codebreaking skills that helped defeat the Nazis in World War 2, Turing was also known for being persecuted by the United Kingdom for being gay. After the Second World War, that persecution led to his death, even though his contribution to the Allies was big. Will using him for his project alludes to his sexuality, one that has been subtly hinted at throughout the whole series.
9. Lucas: Basketball Star
Stranger Things 4 gave Lucas Sinclair something new, a departure from past seasons – turning him into a basketball varsity member. What's great about this is the number eight he's wearing on his jersey is a clear homage to Kobe Bryant, who wore the same number on his jersey when he first played for the Los Angeles Lakers.
8. Victor Creel
Right before Stranger Things 4 Volume 1 ended, Nancy and Robin took it upon themselves to interview Victor Creel. The thing is, the infamous personality has been locked up in Pennhurst Mental Hospital after being convicted of murdering his family and taking the insanity plea. Even then, he tried to commit suicide by stabbing his eyes with a razor, but ultimately failed. The result is a disfigured old man left to rot inside an asylum, which alludes to a real mental hospital that closed in 1987.
just how deeply is STRANGER THINGS 4 inspired by A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET?
not only is the creature design for #StrangerThings4 villain Vecna heavily influenced by Freddy Krueger, but actor Robert Englund trades finger knives for creepy eyes as Victor Creel in the new season pic.twitter.com/kMj1X89dha

The great thing about Victor Creel here is he's portrayed by no other than Robert Englund, the same actor who played Freddy Krueger. This is a nice callback to an 80s horror legend, a genre the Duffer Brothers have continuously mined for inspiration for their series.
7. The Hellfire Club
Mike and Dustin started Stranger Things 4 apart from Lucas, who has gone on to make the basketball team. The two, meanwhile, are now part of Eddie Munson's local Dungeons and Dragons group, the Hellfire Club.
While it may sound a little too Satanic for some, the name itself comes from a group of antagonists from the X-Men comics back in the 80s. This group, which counts Sebastian Shaw and Emma Frost among its members, tried to take hold of Jean Grey and use her god-like Phoenix form for their own nefarious plans.
6. The Shire is burning
In a fit of panic, Eddie ran straight to the woods to hide from his pursuers there. The group finally catches up with him and they devise a whole new plan to help clear his name. While everyone else was throwing bricks, Dustin realizes that they can use a compass to locate a gate to the Upside Down, find Vecna, and kill him. Right before everyone can agree on the plan, Dustin asks Eddie if he's okay with it. He replies that “the Shire is burning. So Mordor it is.”
A cool detail about Stranger Things season 4 is that when Eddie talks about The Shire burning, he's specifically referring to the books. It's a pretty major story beat that was intentionally left out of the movies, so talking about it is a cool way of addressing pre-Jackson LOTR

This is a clear reference to J.R.R. Tolkien's beloved Lord of the Rings trilogy. The last line mirrors Frodo and the fellowship's decision to take the One Ring to Mordor, even though they themselves will face great dangers doing so.
5. Music
Back in season one, Will sang The Clash's Should I Stay Or Should I Go to himself while he was hiding inside the Upside Down. The same song was also used by Will when he manipulated a cassette player in his room to let Joyce know he was still alive.
In Stranger Things 4, the gang discovers that one way to keep Vecna at bay and prevent him from taking over someone's mind is using music. In Max's case, Steve, Lucas, and Dustin played Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill to give her the means to escape Vecna's hold on her mind.
4. Vecna
As compared to antagonists from previous seasons, Vecna is the first non-monster villain Eleven and the gang face. As compared to the Demogorgon, Demodogs, and the Mind Flayer, the former Henry Creel gives an air of sadism and malevolence packed together in a human form. The thing is, Jamie Campbell's Vecna can be seen as an amalgamation of different bad guys from famous horror movies.
After finishing Stranger Things 4, fans can get glimpses of Freddy Krueger, Mike Myers, Hellraiser, and Pennywise, among others. There's also a little dash of the Night King from Game of Thrones included. When all of these details from the famous horror film bad guys come together, the outcome is something so familiar, yet different altogether – Vecna.
3. The Rainbow Room
In her bid to gain powers again, Eleven enlists the aid of Dr. Brenner to make that possible. The good doctor, in turn, makes Eleven remember her past as a test subject and her interaction with a friendly Orderly in the Rainbow Room.
Also, I thought it was really neat when Eleven and One face off in the rainbow room and One is on the other side of the rainbow symbolizing The Upside Down. Ugh. I love the small details👏🏽 #StrangerThings #StrangerThings4 pic.twitter.com/cN9vADKymD

Once the twist has been revealed that the Orderly is no other than Number One, Henry Creel, Eleven confronts him in the same room where her fellow test subjects were murdered. On one hand, we see the rainbow on Creel's side with the color purple on top. Eleven's side, meanwhile has that same color right at the bottom. This is an easter egg that alludes to the Upside Down, the same place Number One was sent to by Eleven and where he was transformed into the monstrous Vecna.
2. Callbacks to previous seasons
Thanks to having three seasons worth of material, it only makes sense for Stranger Things 4 to have a lot of callbacks from its past. Here are some of them:
- The Snow Ball Dance
- A montage of happy memories stemming from Eleven and Max's friendship in season three
- A flashback of Bob being eaten to death by the Demodogs
- Will remembering the Mind Flayer and how he was used by it in season two.
- Eleven's Eggos on the table of Hopper's house when she and the gang tried to fix it up.
- Eddie uses the same Mike Myers mask Max used in season two.
1. The Grandfather Clock
In season four, Vecna used the sound of a grandfather clock to signal the death of his intended victim. It has been discovered that a similar sound can be heard when a Demogorgon first appeared and attacked Will in season one and in season three when Billy was possessed by the Mind Flayer.
Further proof #Vecna was in it from season 1. You hear the grandfather clock as as Will encounters the Shadow Monster/Demogorgon. Then AGAIN you hear the grandfather clock as Billy encounters the Mind flayer. #StrangerThings4 #StrangerThings #strangerthingsseason4 pic.twitter.com/dJ2znbVCp9

This goes to show that Vecna has been there since the beginning and has pulled the strings since season one. This easter egg proves that the bad guy has been playing the long game since the start of the series.
