Thanks to a new AMC Theatres listing, the rumored runtime of Deadpool and Wolverine has been revealed. If it's true, it'll break a runtime record for the franchise.
According to AMC Theatres' listing for Deadpool and Wolverine, the runtime is 127 minutes. That would beat out Deadpool 2's previous runtime record of 119 minutes in the franchise. The first film in the series was just 108 minutes long.
It's important to take this with a grain of salt until Disney and/or Marvel Studios confirm the runtime. As it stands, though, Deadpool and Wolverine will be substantially longer than the last MCU film, The Marvels (105 minutes).
What is Deadpool 3 about?
Deadpool and Wolverine follows Wade Wilson/Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) on a mission from the Time Variance Authority (TVA). He is pulled out of his quiet life to embark on a mission with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) that will change the MCU's history.
Shawn Levy directed the film based on a script he co-wrote with Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells, and Reynolds. He has plenty of experience working with his stars Jackman and Reynolds. In 2011, Levy directed the Jackman-led Real Steel. More recently, he directed Free Guy and The Adam Project, which both starred Reynolds.
While this is the third installment in the Deadpool series, it is notably his first MCU adventure. The previous two films both took place under the 20th Century Fox banner. Disney acquired the studio and inherited their cast of characters including the X-Men.
Given that it appears Deadpool and Wolverine will utilize the MCU timeline, the film could have major implications for the franchise. Perhaps this is how members of the X-Men are formally introduced in the MCU.
Who is in it?
To no one's surprise, Ryan Reynolds leads the film. He will co-star in the film with a returning Hugh Jackman. This was a bombshell return, as Jackman seemingly rode off into the sunset in James Mangold's Logan. Not even a decade later and Jackman is back.
He previously played the role for Fox's X-Men universe from 2000-17. Jackman appeared in several X-Men films as well as a trilogy of Wolverine films.
However, he is not the only major return in Deadpool and Wolverine. Several cast members from the past two Deadpool installments will also return. Morena Baccarin headlines this list — she played Vanessa, Wade's love interest in the first two films.
Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Brianna Hildebrand, and Stefan Kapičić will also reprise their roles from the past two films.
The most shocking confirmed return is Jennifer Garner as Elektra Natchios. She played the role in the 2003 Ben Affleck-led Daredevil film. A couple of years later, Garner received her own spin-off film titled Elektra. The film was a box office flop and she hasn't reprised the role since. She starred in Shawn Levy's The Adam Project with Reynolds — perhaps that was the catalyst for her return.
Emma Corrin of The Crown fame will play Cassandra Nova, the villain of the film. Succession star Matthew Macfadyen will play Paradox, a Time Variance Authority agent who recruits Wade for his adventure.
Deadpool and Wolverine will be released on July 26.
