Is Facebook Messenger down? Kids, it's about to get real in a post about this, as the world was burning as is, but people have lost their minds over a social media application being down. There's live and rolling updates to the unfolding situation being added at the bottom of the post.

Facebook Messenger Is Down

At some point in the early hours of the morning, at least in the United States, the application went haywire all over the world. The majority of issues appear to be in European countries; although, as an American based user who is working with people all over the globe, I can say it is altering almost everyone's day.

At the time of this writing, Facebook did release a statement of sorts, claiming their team is working on the situation at hand — as it's not just that Facebook Messenger is down, but so are some of the company's other chat communication applications.

So, what do we do now? Well, we can call or text a loved one.

Ah, hell. Who am I kidding? People have actually turned to other social media platforms — because addiction — to compain about the fact that Facebook Messenger is down.

Here is my favorite, of a person believing this is a conspiracy against them:

I can, unfortunately, do this all day. People have lost their marbles over this. An issue that will, more than likely, be fixed within a reasonable amount of time after you read this blogpost.

Nevertheless, rest assured that your need to be tethered to strangers, friends and family via a company stealing private information off you, is going to be met sooner rather than later. After all, the fact Facebook Messenger is down is not the real issue.

Rather, it's the fact Google searches for Is Facebook Messenger Down is spiking, making me wonder about the fate of our species. 2020 truly is a less than ideal time.

Facebook Messenger Update: At 9:21 (eastern) it appears, at least for those in the states, the majority of the issues have been fixed. This post will be updated as more information rises to the surface. At 9:34, it appears nearly everything has turned back to normal. That said, we can't be 100 percent certain, as the company hasn't yet released an official statement and I'm using my own — and my colleagues' — experiences. The official Twitter account has mostly ignored the situation this morning.
