The cast for Rian Johnson's Knives Out 3, properly titled Wake Up Dead Man, is coming together. Movement on the upcoming Netflix film has been hot and heavy since the title announcement. An Emmy-winning actress, Kerry Washington, is the latest to join Daniel Craig's latest Benoit Blanc mystery.

Deadline reported Washington's casting in Wake Up Dead Man. She will join Craig in the latest installment in the anthology series. Josh O'Connor (Challengers), Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), and Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers) are also set to star in the film.

Plot details are still being kept under wraps as the cast of Knives Out 3 forms. Johnson did write the script and will direct the film as well. He will produce the film through his company T-Street alongside Ram Bergman.

The Knives Out series

The Knives Out franchise began in 2019 with Rian Johnson's inaugural film. He wrote and directed the original murder mystery. Lionsgate distributed the film and it made over $300 million worldwide.

Daniel Craig led the cast as Benoit Blanc, a detective. The ensemble featured heavy hitters such as Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Michael Shannon, Toni Collette, Christopher Plummer, and more.

It follows the investigation of the death of Harlan Thrombey (Plumber). When it comes time for the inheritance, it flips the family upside down as they fight over it when it's appointed to a surprising person.

After the success of the first film, a standalone sequel, Glass Onion, was released. However, Netflix acquired the rights to two sequels  for$450 million. Glass Onion didn't get a full theatrical release like its predecessor, but it received the widest release of a Netflix film.

Glass Onion grossed $13.2 million during its theatrical run. Netflix released the film during the 2022 Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The film subsequently hit Netflix a month later.

Craig returned once again as Benoit Blanc. A new ensemble was introduced that included Edward Newton, Janelle Monáe, Kathryn Hahn, Dave Bautista, and Leslie Odom Jr.

Wake Up Dead Man, the third film in the trilogy is now coming to form. Johnson and Craig are back and the title is derived from U2's song of the same name from their Pop album.
