Masters of the Universe is sometimes referred to as the He-Man series. He-Man and the rest of the Masters of the Universe franchise was created in 1982. It started out as a mini-comics in the 1980s. This was then followed by children's books and DC Comics issues.
However, the franchise would best be known through Filmation's He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animated series which debuted in 1983. The series ran for two seasons and had 130 episodes until 1985.

Adam transforms into He-Man when he holds his magic Power Sword aloft and saying the words “By the power of Grayskull…” As He-Man he serves as the protector of all that is good on Eternia. When Adam transforms into He-Man, so does his timid pet tiger Cringe. He, in turn, becomes Battle Cat, a giant armored beast He-Man often rides into battle.
The literal shout-out to Grayskull comes from the fact that his powers were given to him by the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, She is a powerful magic user and the mystic guardian of the castle. She is also able to transform into Zoar, a falcon.
The Masters of the Universe franchise also has a follow up series which revolves around Prince Adam's sister, Princess Adora, also known as She-Ra: Princess of Power. Her story centers on her rebellion against the Horde on the planet Etheria.
The franchise has had six animated TV series and two feature films: the 1985 animated movie The Secret of the Sword and the 1987 live-action movie Masters of the Universe starring Dolph Lundgren.
In 2018, Netflix and Dreamworks teamed up together to release the 2018 animated series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, which lasted until 2020. Also on Netflix are 2021's Masters of the Universe: Revelation and this year's Masters of the Universe: Revolution.
