Roma have been somewhat disappointing in their domestic campaign this season. Thankfully for them, success in Europe combined with a solid spell domestically between mid-January and mid-April saved them a spot in the Europa League next season. Still, they would love to win their first European trophy since 1961. Feyenoord also secured the Europa League domestically by finishing third in Eredivisie, but they are also looking for a trophy to add to their cabinet. They last won in Europe in 2001-02, when the Dutch club won the UEFA Cup, now Europa League. It will definitely be a greatly contested game by both teams.

Why Roma Could Win This Match

With Jose Mourinho at the helm, people were unsure what to expect from Roma this season. They have challenged the Serie A title a few times in the near past and made the Champions League semifinal in 2018. Unfortunately for the club from the capital, since that season ended, their best finish in the league was fifth. This season they managed to get the sixth spot, but it was not always easy. There were struggles and the roster went through adversity, but they pulled through, and that commitment is what gives them a huge chance to win in this game.

Just like any Mourinho team, this Roma never gave up, not even for a moment. There was a stretch with nine losses in 18 games, something that should not happen to a club with a European perspective. Thankfully for them, Roma were able to string together a 12-game streak without a loss, and it is exactly that no-quit mentality if they can apply it in this game, that gives Roma the best chance to win the inaugural Europa Conference League.

In terms of other advantages, Mourinho is a big one. This is a cup coach primarily, as he has won the Champions League twice, UEFA Cup/Europa League twice, and countless national cups. The Portuguese legend has a way to prepare his teams for these cup finals and even though his Roma roster cannot compare to Real Madrid or Chelsea, his expertise is the same. With a team led by top-scorer Tammy Abraham, there is a lot of optimism within the Roma ranks for this final.

Why Feyenoord Could Win This Match

Now, Feyenoord are a team that no one really expected here. They are a Dutch club that is not really on the historical level of Ajax or even PSV. Yet, they actually have a European Cup, which was the competition that was rebranded to Champions League in 1992, which they won in 1961. They also have two UEFA Cups, the last one coming in 2002. The Dutch team have a history of winning European competitions and this could be their chance to finally return to winning titles.

In terms of their chances of winning this match, their record in the Europa Conference League speaks for itself. Feyenoord have not lost in this inaugural edition of the ECL, with just four draws in 12 games. They are very offensively potent, as Feyenoord scored 11 goals in six games in the group stages, then scored a whopping 17 in six games of knockout stages. The only knockout game in which the Dutch team have not scored at least three goals is their semifinal return leg versus Marseille.

Feyenoord will rely on their three goalscoring threats, led by Columbian Luis Sinisterra. Sinisterra scored 11 ECL goals and overall bagged 23 in 48 appearances across all competitions. If he is not up to the challenge, Feyenoord still have Guus Til and Cyriel Dessers, both with over 20 goals this year. There is a ton of attacking talent in this roster and Feyenoord could look to completely open up the game and risk conceding more, just so their talent going forward will be at the forefront.

Final Roma-Feyenoord Prediction & Pick

As with any cup final, it is very hard to predict what will happen. The European competitions have been great this year and this should be a great final. Despite the goalscoring talent of Feyenoord, it is hard to overlook Jose Mourinho and his Roma team. Our final Feyenoord-Roma prediction is a Roma win at the Arena Kombëtare in Tirana, Albania.

Final Roma-Feyenoord Pick: Roma (+115)
