Another successful year, another disappointing finish for the Atlanta Falcons. Now they face the ugly truth of whether or not some adjustments to their player personnel need to be made. As a result, there have been rumors about the team potentially trading running back Tevin Coleman.

However, general manager Thomas Dimitroff said on 92.9 The Game radio that the Falcons have no desire to trade Coleman, via ESPN's Vaughn McClure:

“We are not considering trading Tevin Coleman, period,” Dimitroff told Kamla. “He's an important part of this organization. And our focus is on this upcoming year, and trade is not in our thought process.”

Dimitroff's adamancy should come as no surprise. Coleman makes up one half of what has been the most dynamic backfield over the last few seasons alongside Devonta Freeman. Furthermore, he has provided plenty of bang for his buck as a former third-round pick.

However, Coleman will be entering the final year of his rookie deal and is expected to make less than $1 million for the 2018 season. That raises questions as to whether or not the Falcons will be able to re-sign him after the lucrative deal they just gave Freeman. As a result, there was some speculation that Atlanta could try to get something in exchange rather than let him walk in free agency.

It goes without saying that he would be the starter on a majority of teams throughout the league. Despite largely serving as the complementary runner, Coleman's skill set is similar to that of an every-down back thanks to his ability to run, catch, and block.
