For Kirk Cousins to be a massive game-changer, especially as he approaches age 36, says more about the state of the Atlanta Falcons than it does about him. Still, the four-time Pro Bowler is a big-time upgrade at the most important position in the game.

The Falcons have too many young talents in skill positions not to be a dynamic offense. Bijan Robinson, Kyle Pitts, Drake London, Tyler Allgeier and Darnell Mooney combine for an intriguing core of players that can only get better. London, in particular, should be elevated by Cousins' addition to the offense.

In an interview with SiriusXM, London said that it will be “a really cool thing” to learn from Cousins, whose experience in the NFL and abilities under center have brought about a new feeling around the team. London made sure to point out that everyone who’s putting in work in Atlanta is contributing to the hopeful rejuvenation of the team. But he also acknowledged that having Cousins plays a big part in that.

“He takes that very, very seriously,” London said of Cousins' attention to detail. “And then he’s seen a lot of pictures in his day playing football. So to be able to go out there and key those and help us see it with him is a huge thing, too. So I think that’s what I’ve learned the most.”

The 22-year-old London has played two NFL seasons with Desmond Ridder, who failed to establish himself as a starting-caliber QB, and an assorted collection of veterans. He's very talented and is getting even better but not having a reliable quarterback has limited him. Now in an offense with a veteran who can still produce at a high level and other talented playmakers around him, 2024 could be a breakout season for London.

“I think he’s going to help me learn the game of football on a bigger scale and understand it a little bit more,” the Falcons wideout said. “And for that, I really can’t wait and see where it takes my game.”

The Falcons managed to win seven games last season, so things should be looking up for them in a division that still has no true threat. Drafting Michael Penix Jr. was an interesting decision but it does at least ensure they will have quality QB play even if Cousins can’t stay healthy. Atlanta doesn’t have as much hope as other teams but its hope meter is on the rise, even if slightly.
