Just recently, Amazon had to once again shut down New World’s economy thanks to another duping exploit. As of today, the developers decided to reactivate the economy and instead banned players who utilized the exploits.
Technically speaking, MMOs are one of the most difficult types of games to maintain. Coming up with patches for these exploits might take some time which is why Amazon Game Studios resorted to another method. This time around Amazon didn’t exactly come up with a patch, instead bans over 1,200 New World players. According to developers, “Exploits will not be tolerated, and penalties can and will include permanent bans for those players using them.”
While this may not be the fix that New World needs, it’s definitely better than disabling the economy again. At least now, malicious players are more likely to do away from such acts to avoid getting permabanned. Eventually, as time will go by Amazon will come up with permanent patches for the exploits. It just so happens that they need to come up with a quick solution to avoid any further damage in-game.
Exploiting in New World is definitely becoming a major problem for both the game itself and the players. On more than one occasion Amazon had no other choice but to disable the in-game economy to avoid utilization of exploits. These exploits involved duplication of gold and most recently a dupe of housing items that give players passive buffs. If only these players would stop being greedy and just play New World the way it’s supposed to be. At least we can safely say that the exploit usage rate will surely drop by a lot thanks to Amazon’s permabanning.
