  • G2: Wukong, Ahri, Lucian, Ezreal, Leona

Picks

  • EG: Gwen, Viego, Twisted Fate, Jinx, Tahm Kench
  • G2: Vladimir, Diana, Yasuo, Senna, Nautilus

Both sides picked quite interesting compositions here. The unnatural Senna coupled with farming Nautilus in the bot side made the game quite hard for the G2 duo, but the explosiveness of their Diana-Yasuo combo made up for it.

caPs on Yasuo even showed off some of his mechanics:

For most of the game, EG was in the lead. This was until G2 Esports claimed Baron and took the gold lead with it. On their second Baron attempt, G2 lose a teamfight but still managed to claim the Hextech Soul. A great play by Jankos allowed G2 to clean ace EG and take the W.

G2 Esports locked in their Rumble Stage slot after this victory.

Result: G2 win in 39:18 (EG 12 – 22 G2)

Game 2: Evil Geniuses (LCS) vs ORDER (LCO)

  • ORD: Wukong, Lucian, Ahri, Gwen, Gangplank

Picks

  • EG: Ornn, Graves, LeBlanc, Xayah, Gragas
  • ORD: Kayle, Viego, Lissandra, Tristana, Rakan

EG's draft was par for the course, but what surprised everyone was the Kayle pick coming in for BioPanther.

Everybody expected Evil Geniuses to hold a dominant performance in their game against ORDER, and that they did.

Kevy was heavily punished in his own jungle from start to finish. He never really got a chance to play the game. Kevy wasn't alone, however, as it also looked like the rest of ORDER were just simply outclassed.

Evil Geniuses locked their Rumble Stage spot after this win, which meant that ORDER is out of contention.

Result: EG win in 23:40 (EG 24 – 5 ORD)

  • EG: Wukong, Ahri, Lucian, Camille, Tryndamere

Picks

  • G2: Sion, Nidalee, Twisted Fate, Kai’Sa, Pyke
  • ORD: Ornn, Graves, LeBlanc, Ezreal, Karma

The Nidalee pick by Jankos that has spawned many memes is here, and it proved quite useful for the team. Despite Jankos' immense pressure on the pick, ORDER managed to stack up dragons.

This didn't end up mattering, unfortunately for the Oceanian team. At only 17 minutes into the game, they have already lost one inhibitor and BrokenBlade's Sion looks unkillable.

ORD showed some signs of life after an impressive Baron steal by Kevy:

G2 Esports still ended up winning, and here's some fun facts about Nidalee's Jankos that game:

Result: G2 win in 26:13 (G2 28 – 10 ORD)

The EU vs NA matchup for the nth time this MSI. This time, EG is trying out a different drafting style with the AP jungler Lillia locked in for Inspired, paired with the AD solo lanes.

Like the first game of the day, Evil Geniuses also had the gold lead up until the midgame this time. Despite this, G2 still runs them down during fights. caPs' Sylas looks insanely broken, but EG remained resilient in front of it. The game winning fight happened at the sixth drake, where G2 found a great fight that allowed them to destroy EG's Nexus.

Result: G2 win in 34:50 (G2 23 – 11 EG)

Picks

  • ORD: Renekton, Graves, Akali, Karthus, Leona
  • EG: Tryndamere, Evelynn, Irelia, Jhin, Bard

As this game had no implications anymore, it seemed like both teams were unleashed in draft.

The thing that caught most viewers' eyes was the botlane Karthus pick for Puma, which unfortunately found little value. This was true for the rest of ORDER, as they had almost nothing to their name.

In fact, it would have been a perfect win for Evil Geniuses if not for the two kills Kisee picked up against Jojopyun. Aside from that, ORDER picked up no towers, dragons, or objective of some sort.

Result: EG win in 23:10 (ORD 2 – 18 EG)

  • G2: Karthus, Diana, Ahri, LeBlanc, Kayle

Picks

  • ORD: Urgot, Viego, Twisted Fate, Caitlyn, Karma
  • G2: Yone, Sejuani, Gwen, Sion, Senna

Again, this game no longer had implications, causing teams to have some fun with their champion picks. This time, we see caPs on Gwen, Flakked on Sion, and Targamas on the Senna. The Sejuani jungle for Jankos also pairs well with the double melee sololanes that they have drafted. All in all, these players were pushed out of their comfort roles this game, and their confidence is immense to even think of pulling this off.

Needless to say, they do end up pulling it off, and even got a 20 minute Baron in the game. G2 Esports finish the Group Stage without a single loss, and this counts the 20th professional win in a row for the squad.

Result: G2 win in 24:10 (ORD 4 – 20 G2)
