The New York Giants opened their 2020 NFL season against the Pittsburgh Steelers the same way they finished 12 of their 16 games last year — with a loss. After a solid start and some help in form of costly mistakes by the Steelers, the final result saw the Giants suffer a 10-point loss on Monday Night Football.

A struggling defense, an interception by Daniel Jones and a neutralized Saquon Barkley eventually turned out to be too much for New York to overcome. Nevertheless, the Giants did miss out on many opportunities in their season opener, which could have seen them come away with a victory. Better days seem ahead for the 4-time Super Bowl champions – potentially against the Chicago Bears this Sunday.

Here are three things that we predict will happen for the New York Giants against the Chicago Bears.

1) Saquon Barkley is going to dominate the game

The Giants' offensive line did a bad job against the Steelers, which resulted in Barkley only rushing for six yards on 15 carries and getting stopped cold behind the line of scrimmage on most of his attempts. However, it is worth noting that Pittsburgh did load up the box on most snaps, giving up passing options for the Giants in order to stop Saquon Barkley from having a huge impact on the game.

Is it possible that the Bears will do the same, especially given their talent on the front seven and the struggles of the Giants offensive line? No doubt. Still, a talent like Barkley is not only hard to neutralize for two games in a row. In addition to that, he is also very effective in other ways.

Against the Steelers, Barkley did have 60 yards on six catches, proving he can be a valuable weapon in the passing game as well. Given how very little Barkley was able to do against the Steelers in the run game, it is very likely that he will bounce back against the Bears; either by adjusting his approach when rushing or by being a more integral part in the passing offense.

2) The Giants pass rush will look better than it actually is

Graham Gano, Giants

It has been a while since the Giants had a good pass rush which could pressure the opposing quarterback on a consistent basis. While players like Lorenzo Carter, Markus Golden and Dexter Lawrence are talented and solid options, New York miss a true game-wrecking pass rusher who actually helps their defense win games. The Chicago Bears do have some very good pass rushers on their side and their defense will probably outshine the Giants defense.

Still, given the struggles that the Bears offensive line went through last season and the fact that Mitch Trubisky tends to make bad decisions with the football whenever his first read is not open or the play breaks down, the game against Chicago will make the Giants pass rush look very good. In fact, it will look a lot better than it actually is. Whether it is going to be the interior defensive line, led by Leonard Williams, or the outside linebackers, Trubisky will get sacked more often than against the Detroit Lions last weekend.

3) Watch out for Daniel Jones and Darius Slayton

What we have seen last season and against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday was no coincidence. The Jones-Slayton chemistry is a real thing and it will only get better the more reps these two get together on the field. Since Week 5 of 2019, no player in the NFL has caught more touchdown passes than Slayton.

On Monday, he managed to rack up another one, even though Golden Tate was out for the game and the Steelers were able to focus on Slayton even more. Sure, the Giants will rely on their franchise player, Saquon Barkley, and their run game a lot, but given that Barkley will have a dominant game, the playbook for Jason Garrett will be wide open. Jones is an accurate deep ball thrower and will find Slayton for at least one more touchdown pass. There is a good chance Slayton will have close to 100 yards receiving this Sunday.

Anything can happen on any given Sunday, but these are the three things that we predict are going to happen when the New York Giants face the Chicago Bears.
