What a newsworthy day for the New York Giants. As the day started with the proud National Football League franchise firing coach Ben McAdoo and general manager Jerry Reese, it is attempting to win in the realm of PR, as Eli Manning is reportedly back as the team's starting gunslinger.

Given that Eli Manning lost his consecutive starts streak on Sunday, on the backs of McAdoo and Reese, this continues the insane season the Giants have been going through.
Fair or not, this is likely ownership's attempt to hurl those two fired guys under the bus “as the reason” for Manning's benching in the first place.
Early on Monday morning, McAdoo announced his termination from New York. He has been joined in the unemployment line by Reese.
For whatever it is worth, and this isn't much, Geno Smith played OK-ish on Sunday in Manning's place. He wasn't awful or anything, but he didn't set the world on fire either.
With only conjecture at our backs, it is easy to assume this might be ownership's attempt at appeasing Manning before the offseason hits, insuring a return to the franchise for next year.
Then again, it is as likely that the ownership, as fires are being spread around them, is just trying to win “today” while showing guys the door.
