The New York Giants have had extra time to rest and get their affairs in order coming out of the Week 11 bye. Unfortunately, it remains to be seen whether or not it was enough for tight end Evan Engram.

Engram went into the week off dealing with a foot injury. According to ESPN's Jordan Raanan, he was not able to log in any practice time.

TEs Evan Engram (foot) and Rhett Ellison (concussion) not practicing. Would seem to be an upset if Engram's ready for Sunday vs. Bears.

Engram's inability to practice after an extra week off is hardly an encouraging sign for his status against the Chicago Bears in Week 12. It is safe to say that fans are hoping that New York is simply taking a cautious approach with his recovery leading up to the game rather than it be an indication of the severity of his injury.

The prospect of Engram's absence undoubtedly deals a crushing blow to the passing game for quarterback Daniel Jones. He has taken on an integral role in the Giants' lackluster offense with 44 receptions for 467 yards and three touchdowns in the 2019 NFL season.

The timing of Engram's injury raises quite a dilemma for New York at this point in the year. They are not playing for much at 2-8 heading into the final stretch and it may not be worth having him potentially further aggravate the injury in another lost season. His activity in practice throughout the week should provide further clarity on his status versus Chicago.
