New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has had some terrible luck with injuries recently. Barkley suffered a season-ending torn ACL tear last season, jeopardizing the Giants' season. Now, just as Barkley was getting back into the swing of things, he's once again back on the bench after suffering a nasty ankle sprain against the Dallas Cowboys.

Speaking to reporters, Barkley opened up about how these injuries has frustrated him. Per Giants.com, Barkley said this:

“I'll be honest, it's frustrating… It doesn't make sense why it's happening, but obviously when you get hurt you have those one or two days when it's an ankle sprain. Obviously, when it's a knee injury, it's probably a little longer. You have those days to reflect and feel bad for yourself and have that ‘why me?' mentality.”

It's been a rough few years for Barkley, as injuries have derailed what was a promising start to his young career. He earned Pro Bowl honors in his rookie year for the Giants, but various lower body injuries have limited Barkley's playing time. The young Giants RB isn't letting that bad luck get to him though.

“But you can't keep that mindset. Having that mindset, you're not going to get anywhere with it. You've just got to look on the brighter side. Everything happens for a reason. This could slow me down to help me out in other ways to get myself ready and whenever I'm going to get back on the field, just get back to playing the sport that I love and to get back to contributing to help the team [Giants].”

That's encouraging to hear for Giants fans, who are surely looking for Saquon Barkley to regain his old form from his rookie campaign. Luckily for Barkley, his ankle sprain doesn't seem to be as perilous as his previous injuries. He's on a week-to-week basis for the Giants, as they assess whether the running back is ready to get back on the field.
