The New York Giants are expected to work out wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin on Saturday, according to Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record.

The news comes after the Giants' receiving corps were dealt a significant blow on Wednesday, as No. 1 receiver Sterling Shepard broke this thumb and Corey Coleman suffered a torn ACL, ending his season.

Benjamin split the 2018 campaign between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs, playing in 15 games and logging 25 catches for 380 yards and a touchdown.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at Florida State, was originally selected by the Carolina Panthers in the first round (28th pick overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

He had a terrific rookie year, appearing in all 16 contests and hauling in 73 receptions for 1,008 yards and nine touchdowns. However, that ensuing summer, Benjamin tore his ACL, knocking him out for all of 2015.

The Belle Glade, Fl. native returned to the field in 2016 and had a solid year, catching 63 passes for 941 yards and seven scores, but he never quite regained his form from before the injury.

In 2017, the Panthers ended up trading Benjamin to the Bills midway through the season, and he ended up totaling 48 catches for 692 yards while reaching the end zone three times on the season overall.

Buffalo then cut him this past December, which was when he signed with Kansas City.

The Giants are coming off of a season in which they won just five games. New York has made the playoffs just once since last winning the Super Bowl during the 2011-12 campaign.
