Adoree Jackson became a coveted free agent when the Tennessee Titans released him earlier this offseason, leaving a void in their secondary. A week after free agency began, Jackson has signed a three-year, $39 million deal with the New York Giants, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Jackson began his career as the number 18 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft out of USC. The former Trojan is known as a freakish athlete and he's been able to translate his game to the NFL in his first four seasons with the Titans.
Altogether, in his first three seasons with Tennessee, Jackson totaled 188 combined tackles, three forced fumbles, 33 pass breakups, and two interceptions. In 2020, which was his fourth season with the Titans, Jackson played in only three games due to injury, limiting him to just 12 combined tackles.
Instead of going picking up Jackson's fifth-year option, the Titans opted for him to walk, making him a free agent. After seeing Jackson hit the open market, the Giants immediately became a team who turned their attention to the 25-year-old cornerback.
In recent days, after signing Kenny Golladay to a lucrative contract, New York met with Jackson, with players on the Giants recruiting Jackson to the Big Apple. Following his meeting with the Giants, Jackson is now joining a defense that was much improved in 2020.
Before the 2020 season, the Giants shelled out a boatload of money to get James Bradberry and Logan Ryan. While New York is hoping Daniel Jones is the answer at quarterback, they're beginning to put together a team that can compete in the NFC East.
