After months of speculation about a potential parting of the ways with superstar wideout Odell Beckham Jr., the New York Giants seem to be in a good place with the perennial Pro Bowler. Beckham appears to be content with being around the team without signing the lucrative contract extension he's hoping for before the 2018 campaign and he's already making an impression on new head coach Pat Shurmur.

Over the weekend, Shurmur talked about his budding relationship with Beckham and how the two are seemingly on the same page. Now the first-year head coach needs to temper the Beckham's anxiousness to do more on the field as he continues to get healthier and ready for the upcoming season, via Giants Twitter account.

After three stellar seasons in New York which quickly put in him the conversation for being one of the best wide receivers in the NFL, Beckham struggled with injuries during the 2017 campaign. Beckham went down with an ankle injury in the preseason and then shortly after returning to the field went down again with what turned out to be a season-ending ankle fracture.

With Beckham being arguably the team's best player and more than likely on the verge of a lucrative contract extension, the Giants coaching staff taking it slow with him as he works his way back on the field comes as no surprise. Despite his obvious enthusiasm to get back to work, there's no need to rush it at this point with OTAs only just getting underway on Monday.

Although the team is taking their time with Beckham in terms of getting him back to 100 percent healthy, the fact he's eager to prove himself and is showing up on a voluntary basis is a great sign for the team moving forward. A long-term relationship between the two sides may be a foregone conclusion.
