New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning already has two Super Bowl rings, but wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. wants him to win a third, according to Peter Botte of The New York Post.
“I love Eli,” said Beckham. “I’ve been with Eli, he was the first quarterback I ever had in the league. I threw with him at the Manning camp, in high school. There’s a lot of things you want in life. You can’t always get what you want.”
That seems like a fairly big change for Beckham, who didn't exactly voice his support for Manning earlier in the season. Now, though, things appear to have changed:
“But at the end of the day, I want him to be able to go home and talk trash to his brothers,” he added. “I want him to go out, when it’s time to go out, I want him to go out the right way, I want him to go out with a trophy, so he can go home and, not rub it in their face, but that he’s got three rings and [Peyton’s] got two, or whatever it is. That’s what I want for him, that’s how I want him to finish. But it has nothing to do with me, it’s not my call, I’m just a receiver. So that’s above my pay grade.”
Beckham will miss his fourth straight game with a quad injury in the Giants' season finale against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoon.
Could this be Manning's final game as a member of Big Blue?
Recent indications are that Manning will likely be back for next season, as the Giants don't really have a potential quarterback-of-the-future on their roster, and Manning has actually had a decent year overall.
The two-time Super Bowl MVP has thrown for 3,998 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while completing a career-high 66.7 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 92.7.
