The New York Giants are off to yet another discouraging start to the season after dropping three out of their first four games of the year that have put them in a tough predicament.

There are many criticisms and questions around the team have only grown louder with each passing week stemming with their lack of production offensively. During a recent interview with ESPN that will air on Sunday, star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. voiced that he believes his team isn't playing with the proper energy and heart to turn things around. “So a lot of it has to do with the energy that we don’t have,” OBJ added, “that we don’t bring every single day. And you know me. I’m a passionate, energetic person. I always have to have that. If I don’t, it’s gonna be a problem for me. And just playing with some heart. We just need to play with some heart. We’re only 1-3, you know. The year we went 11-5, we were 2-3. We ended up being 2-3 after five games. So you never know when you can go on a run.”

The Giants have lacked any sort of consistency through the first month of action that has put them in a tough spot to dig out of for the rest of the year. This has seen them struggle tremendously offensively along the way ranking 24th overall and 20th in passing while being 29th with just 18.3 points per contest.

This has greatly contributed to their slow start out of the gate as the team has some significant issues along the offensive line despite attempting to correct those problems over the offseason. Instead, it persisted with them taking center stage to quarterback Eli Manning failing to take a step forward toward being able to be a productive and strong asset under center.

Beckham Jr.'s comments are likely meant to help set a fire under the Giants to break through to be a team that can contend for the playoffs. Their next opportunity to take that step forward will be on Sunday against a tough opponent in the Carolina Panthers in what could be a pivot game that determines how the rest of the season may unfold.
