New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has endured a frustrating 2021 NFL season. Just when Barkley, who suffered a season-ending knee injury last season, was starting to look like his old self again this year, he sustains an ankle injury. Can anyone blame Barkley for being brutally honest when speaking to Giants reporters about his frustrating injury?

No matter what team NFL fans root for, they have to feel for Saquon Barkley here. No one wants to see anyone get  injured. least of all Barkley, who proved on his very first NFL carry that he belonged with the big boys. Barkley has played in just 20 of 41 possible games since that amazing rookie season, which saw the Giants star exceed 2,000 yards from scrimmage.

Barkley spoke wisely when he talked about controlling only what he is able to control. Those are words for anyone, not just football players dealing with injury, to live by. If there's anyone that can overcome this frustrating injury, it's someone with that kind of attitude.

Here's hoping that Saquon Barkley, who has returned to Giants practice in a limited fashion this week, is on the field for a Monday Night Football matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The NFL will be more entertaining if he is.
