It just keeps on getting worse for the New York Giants, who are finding a new low each week. This time, they may have hit rock bottom, as they learn that star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is done for the season – officially.

The team announced on its Twitter account that Beckham would undergo a surgery on the ankle he fractured during Sunday’s 27-22 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers in which the wideout had to be carted off the field.

Giants head coach Ben McAdoo would later double down on the bad news, saying that Beckham’s season over.

The timing of Beckham’s injury could not have come at a worse time. Apart from Beckham, the Giants are likely to be without Sterling Shepard and Brandon Marshall for multiple weeks according to separate reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter and the NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones after both receivers were also hurt in the same game.

Before exiting the contest, Beckham had a field day torching Los Angeles’ defense, as he caught five passes for 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.

With Beckham gone for the rest of the year, the Giants’ murky offense becomes even more problematic. The team is averaging just 16.4 points per game on an offense that is largely reliant on the passing game that now asks the likes of Roger Lewis and Tavaress King to step up.
