The New York Giants are a franchise in disarray following several years of mediocre play under the stewardship of Ben McAdoo, Steve Spagnuolo, Pat Shurmur, and Joe Judge.

However, every season represents a new opportunity and 2022 signals a fresh start for the G-Men.

Following the hire of new GM Joe Schoen and new Head Coach Brian Daboll from Buffalo, the Giants are looking to get back to their winning ways.

With a new GM and Head Coach in tow, the next domino to fall is Quarterback.

The Giants have already indicated their commitment to Daniel Jones for the 2022 season. Coach Daboll has had success developing QBs in the past, being a key piece in the development of Josh Allen himself. Giants fans certainly hope Coach Daboll can replicate his success the their young signal-caller.

This commitment does not however mean the Giants are unwilling to explore other options. If Daniel Jones fails to develop any further, the Giants want to be prepared with a proven backup QB. According to recent reports, the Giants may be looking to bring in a former MVP to fill that need.

According to ThePanthersWire, the Giants are reportedly in on Cam Newton to be their backup for the 2022 season.

The 2015 NFL MVP has bounced around the league following his tenure with the Panthers, but he is still very much a respected and talented NFL QB. The Giants clearly believe he has the ability to make an impact on their team, and they reportedly will be targeting him in free agency. Cam Newton has shown he has something left to prove, and an opportunity with the Giants may be his best option to prolong his NFL career. The mutual interest has yet to be confirmed, but the pairing makes sense for both sides.

Free-Agency begins March 16th at 4 pm EST, stay tuned for further updates.
