The LIV Golf Invitational, the first event being held by the rival Saudi-backed tour, is set to begin on June 9. The tour has landed a couple of major PGA stars in Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson, though other high-profile Tour figures have been outspoken in their criticisms of the LIV Golf tour. PGA legend Jack Nicklaus, who claimed that he told LIV he wasn't interested, and Rory McIlroy, who has been outspoken against the rival league throughout the process, drew the ire of Greg Norman, the face of the Saudi-backed organization. Norman took shots at both Nicklaus and McIlroy, per Golf Week.
In a story by the Washington Post titled, “The Shark is on the attack again,” Norman also criticized Rory McIlroy and others, suggesting they’ve been “brainwashed” against the LIV movement. Norman also called Jack Nicklaus a hypocrite after recently speaking out against LIV.
Norman accused Nicklaus of being a “hypocrite.” The former world PGA world no. 1 said that Nicklaus “gave LIV Golf his blessing”, which is contrary to what the 18-time major winner said.
Article Continues BelowIn a wild rant, Norman then accused McIlroy of being “brainwashed” by the PGA. No one has been off-limits when it comes to Norman's wrath, as he has come for PGA commissioner Jay Monahan as well.
The Shark has had dreams of another alternative to the PGA since he was a Tour player himself. It's clear that he isn't going to let criticism from others get in his way.
