It's been quite a week for lefties in the world of golf. Several hours after Brian Harman captured his first-ever major title by topping the field at The Open Championship in Royal Liverpool, another southpaw in the form of Akshay Bhatia won the other PGA Tournament this week, as he was the last man standing in the Barracuda Championship.

“About 7 hours after Brian Harman won The Open, Akshay Bhatia won the Barracuda Championship in a playoff. This is the first time in PGA TOUR history that two left-handed golfers have won in the same week.”

He scored 67 and 65 in the first and second rounds, respectively, and a 69 in the third round before a 70 on the final day of the event. Placing tied for second behind Harman were Tom Kim and Sepp Straka, each concluding the tournament with 7-under 277.
As for Bhatia, he edged out Patrick Rodgers in a playoff to capture his maiden PGA Tour victory. Although the Barracuda Championship isn't anywhere close to the prestige of The Open Championship, Bhati's win taste just as sweet as Harman's victory across the pond — at least for the 21-year-old native of Los Angeles.
Prior to his The Open Championship win, Brian Harman's best finish in a major was a T6 in 2022 at St Andrews. Harman debuted in The Open in 2014 and finished T26 before missing the cut there four times in a row.
