The Memphis Grizzlies have locked down a key piece of their future. Ahead of Monday's rookie extension deadline, Jaren Jackson Jr has been handed a brand new four-year, $105 million deal by the team. Via Adrian Wojnarowski:

Although injuries hampered Jackson Jr's production in 2020-21, he's easily one of the most polarizing big men in the Association. The 2019-20 campaign was his best season yet for the Grizzlies, featuring in 57 games while averaging 17.4 points and 4.6 rebounds on 47% shooting from the field.

Jackson is just scratching the surface with his potential as well. A serious knee injury limited him to 11 contests last season, but when healthy, he's a modern-day big who can get it done inside but also shoot it, draining 37% of his attempts from downtown in his career.

Alongside guard Ja Morant, Jackson Jr is a cornerstone for a young, exciting Grizzlies franchise who made it to the first round of the NBA Playoffs in 2021 after knocking off the Golden State Warriors in the Play-in. In three seasons, Jackson Jr has averaged 15.4 points, 4.7 boards, and 1.5 blocks per contest. Memphis selected him fourth overall in the 2018 Draft out of Michigan State.

The deadline for 2018 draftees is at 6 PM EST on Monday, with the likes of Trae Young, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and Mikal Bridges all receiving hefty paydays already.

As for Jaren Jackson Jr, the best is yet to come.
