It has been a bad season all around for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2018, but perhaps the most crushing disappointment has been the play of second-year running back Leonard Fournette.

Last year, Fournette was a load, rushing for 1,040 yards and nine touchdowns while catching 36 passes for 302 yards and a score.

This season, however, he has been all but an afterthought, totaling a mere 396 yards while reaching the end zone four times, averaging a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. He has also registered just 19 catches for 157 yards and a touchdown.

Now, Fournette is admitting that he is not in the best shape, according to Phillip Heilman of The Florida Times-Union:

“I could be in better shape,” Fournette said. “I’m fine, though.”

Gonna be honest here: that is not what you want to hear if you are the Jaguars' coaching staff.

Fournette is essentially telling everyone that his conditioning isn't great but that it's not a big deal.

Uh, what?

Perhaps that has quite a bit to do with Fournette receiving just one carry in the second half of Jacksonville's awful loss to the Washington Redskins this past Sunday.

The 23-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the Jaguars with the fourth overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft.

In a year where Blake Bortles was benched, Doug Marrone's seat became hot, and Jalen Ramsey basically said he only cares about himself, Fournette not seeming to care about his poor conditioning seems like the icing on the cake.

Many felt Jacksonville would be a Super Bowl contender after making it all the way to the AFC Championship Game last year.

Instead, the Jaguars are just 4-10.
