The Jacksonville Jaguars have finally found their franchise guy. Trevor Lawrence may not be playing like the generational talent that he was billed as, but he is a good starting QB. So good that the Jaguars recently handed him a massive $275 million contract extension that will keep him in Jacksonville for the foreseeable future. Lawrence spoke at a press conference today about his new contract and his mindset heading into 2024.

“Obviously, financially, it's amazing and really sets us up for the future and for the rest of our lives. That's a huge blessing,” Lawrence said during a Thursday news conference, per NFL.com's Nick Shook.

Lawrence spoke optimistically about the organization's future. He declared that he wants to bring a championship to Jacksonville.

“The way the organization's going and the direction that we're heading on the football side, that makes it obviously a no-brainer for us. We're headed in the right direction, and I want to be the quarterback here. I want to bring a championship to Jacksonville. That's my goal. I really know that we can accomplish that.”

That is a lofty goal. However, Lawrence is a young QB and the Jaguars are clearly heading in the right direction. He should definitely be holding his teammates to a championship standard.

Lawrence noted that he will not put any extra pressure on himself despite the new contract.

“I'm not gonna add any pressure to myself just based on getting this contract,” Lawrence told reporters on Thursday. “It doesn't really change what I expect of myself and what the team expects of me.”

Good days are ahead in Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have made some excellent additions to the offensive side of the ball. They have the firepower needed to have one of the better offensive units in the NFL.

Let's break down some of their improvements from this past offseason.

We'll start with the trade for Mac Jones. This is a wonderful process move by the Jaguars. Jones did not work out as the franchise guy in New England, but he proved that he can be a capable starter in a pinch. That makes him an ideal backup QB for Trevor Lawrence. Jaguars fans should feel confident that the season will not be instantly over if Lawrence suffers a serious injury.

The running back room went largely unchanged, though they added a late-round rookie in Keilan Robinson. We know Etienne is great, but the question becomes will Tank Bigsby grow into the player that Jacksonville expected when they drafted him.

The wide receiver room is where things start looking great. Christian Kirk returns alongside free agent signing Gabe Davis and first-round draft pick Brian Thomas Jr. This gives Jacksonville an impressive starting lineup at receiver with tons of speed and explosiveness.

Pair that with Evan Engram at tight end and Lawrence has plenty of weapons to choose from.

Jacksonville's protection is solid on paper. Mitch Morse signed in free agency and will start at center, which has their starting o-line looking great. However, depth is a pretty big problem. Health and continuity on the offensive line projects to be incredibly important for the Jaguars in 2024.

We can't wait to watch the Jaguars later this fall.
