As the paparazzi and tabloids reported on Jennifer Garner allegedly encouraging Ben Affleck to “work on” his marriage to Jennifer Lopez, the event that truly caused Garner to get emotional this week centered on something else entirely — her eldest daughter Violet's high school graduation.

Tearing up like her Capital One credit card just bounced a charge, Garner took to social media to share her emotions about seeing her first-born graduate.

“Tell me you have a graduate without telling me you have a graduate. 🎓 (bless our hearts 🥺♥️🤣),” Garner posted on Instagram, along with three photos of her crying, a video of her crying on a plane, and one more photo of her presumably crying behind a novelty pair of glasses that read “20” and “24” across the lenses.

In the video, Garner is talking weepily into cam, questioning “How are we going to make it? What are we going to do?” before dabbing away tears.

The post has struck a chord this graduation season with parents everywhere, particularly other celebrity moms. Reese Witherspoon responded to Garner's message with her own words of support, “Oh honey … I know. 😢 ❤️ You have done a great job, mama! I will be here for support and lots of hugs.”

Actress Gina Torres added, “Oh sweet mama!!! You’ve kissed every boo boo and read every story and have made 5am breads and muffins. All while living your own big bad ass life. Ya done AMAZING!!!”

Gwyneth Paltrow shared her own goopy reply of “I’m sooooo with you ❤️‍🩹.”

Southern cooking icon Ree Drummond, aka The Pioneer Woman, consoled Garner, “It’s a deep, searing pain/joy/grief/pride/mourning!!! 😊 Congratulations!”

Fashion designer Rachel Zoe chimed in with “Omg JEN I just stopped crying a week after Skys 13th so same girl same LOVE you madly and stay strong 💪.”

Garner also got words of support from Michelle Pfeiffer, Julianne Moore, Jenna Dewan, Busy Philipps and even the official Barbie social media account, which said “Sending this proud mom some hugs 🤗💗.”

Garner shares three children with her ex-husband Ben Affleck — Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel Affleck, 12. They were married for 10 years before divorcing in 2015.

Much discussion was had the past few weeks regarding the rumors of Jennifer Lopez's potential divorce from Ben Affleck — and among the angles covered were how Affleck's ex Jennifer Garner might feel about the news.

Garner reportedly encouraged Affleck to work on his relationship with Lopez, and stressed that she just wants him to be happy.

The sentiment echoed a rather infamous quote from Affleck when he was accepting the Academy Award for Best Picture for Argo in 2013. As he stood on the podium thanking his (then) wife Garner, Affleck declared “I want to thank you for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases. It’s good, it is work, but it’s the best kind of work, and there’s no one I’d rather work with.” They split two year later.

Hopefully Jennifer Garner‘s advice for Ben Affleck to “work on” his marriage with Jennifer Lopez will turn out better. Either way, those tears in Garner's eyes aren't over the divorce rumors — it's just all the feels of seeing her oldest child graduate.
