Jennifer Lawrence is set to star and produce Apple Original Films and A24's murder mystery feature, The Wives, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The Academy Award-winning actress will serve as a producer alongside Justine Ciarrocchi, her partner at their production banner Excellent Cadaver. Joining the producing team are Tony Award nominee Jeremy O. Harris and Josh Godfrey, producing from their own bbproduction company. Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley wrote the project's script. Since the project is still in its development stage, no director has been announced.

Jennifer Lawrence's Real House Wives dream come true

The film's plot details are still under wraps, but it is described as partly inspired by Bravo's Real Housewives franchise, which follows the lives of well-to-do women engaged in soap operatic and theatrical outbursts from Orange County, Miami and Atlanta, among other cities.

This project reunites Lawrence with Apple and A24, whose last project was the 2022 drama Causeway.

Breslin is better known for his work on stage. He recently helmed Maia Novi's Invasive Species at the Vineyard Theater. He also served as the creative director of Fake Friends with Foley. Breslin also made Circle Jerk, a Pulitzer Prize finalist, as well as FourthWall Theatricals' This American Wife.

Obie Award-winner Foley last appeared on stage in Thomas Bradshaw's The Seagull at The New Group in Woodstock, New York. He co-wrote Circle Jerk with Breslin, which won the Obie in 2022 and made it as a finalist for the 2021 Pulitzer for drama.

Apple and A24 started their partnership in 202o when the tech giant co-distributed the documentary film Boys State and Sofia Coppola's comedy drama On the Rocks. The following year, both companies distributed Joel Coen's The Tragedy of Macbeth. In 2022, they again partnered to distribute the coming-of-age rom-com The Sky is Everywhere, based on Jandy Nelson's 2010 novel of the same name.

Both Apple and 24 are currently working on the Spike Lee remake of High and Low, starring Denzel Washington. They recently released Oscar winner Morgan Neville's STEVE! (Martin) a Documentary in 2 Pieces. The companies will soon premiere the dark comedy series starring Rashida Jones, Sunny, on Apple TV+.

Lawrence was last seen in last year's R-rated comedy No Hard Feelings. The actress has a slew of films in production such as the Gary Ross drama East of Eden, Luca Guadagnino's Burial Rites, the biopic drama Sue and the comedy drama horror feature Die, My Love. Aside from The Wives, she's also set to star in Paul Sorrentino's crime feature Mob Girl. Lawrence is also developing an as-yet-untitled comedy project with Amy Schumer.

The actress has been a vocal fan of The Real Housewives franchise. However, she does count herself more of a New York fan since her favorite is Luan de Lesseps from The Real Housewives of New York. In fact, in a March 2018 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, she was treated to a dinner party with de Lesseps and Bethenny Frankel. While she has displayed an affinity for the New York franchise, Miami holds a special place in her heart.

She's not the only Oscar winner to love the Bravo franchise. Even Meryl Streep watches The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Oscar nominee Florence Pugh is a fan of RHOBH and has said she binge-watches the old reunion shows. Eddie Redmayne credits Lawrence for introducing him to the franchise, which he watches to relax.

Music superstars Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Lady Gaga have their favorite cities as well. However, Harry Styles is partial to the Beverly Hills cast.
