The final episode of Peacemaker's first season is coming to HBO Max on Thursday, but fans shall not fret, because there will be a Season 2 of the hit show starring John Cena as the titular character.

Cena took to social media to announce James Gunn's comic book show will indeed return for another season:

John Cena first played the Peacemaker role in 2021's The Suicide Squad, and the eight-episode first season picks up after the events of the film. Peacemaker returns home after getting shot by Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad and is forced to join up with an A.R.G.U.S. blacks op squad called “Project Butterfly.” Their mission is to hunt down parasitic aliens that resemble butterflies but are hiding in human form throughout the world.

Cena is joined in the cast by Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee and Robert Patrick as co-stars. Viola Davis reprises her DCEU role as Amanda Waller in an uncredited cameo.

Given the popularity of the show, it's no surprise to see that a Season 2 has been commissioned. The finale for the first season is sure to be epic and will leave fans wanting more, and they will get plenty more John Cena and company whenever that second season does arrive.

Peacemaker's Season 1 finale will be available for streaming on HBO Max at 3:01 a.m. ET on Thursday. Meanwhile, there has been plenty of speculation about John Cena making an appearance at WrestleMania 38 in April. He's a busy man!
