COVID-19 cases are on the rise across the United States and the NBA is feeling the effects. With the Chicago Bulls the most notable team dealing with a full-blown outbreak, it appears the Sacramento Kings are heading in a similar direction.

Via Shams Charania of The Athletic:

It was already known that Kings interim head coach Alvin Gentry tested positive, but the likes of Marvin Bagley and Terence Davis are new cases. Aside from actual players, Sacramento also has positive tests within their team staff.

As Shams noted, some of the cases are symptomatic as well. This is certainly a very bad sign for the Kings because that's exactly how the COVID-19 fiasco started in Chicago. They play three games within the next five days but it's unknown at this point if the Kings will actually give it a go or not.

This virus is starting to become a serious concern across the entire sports world again. However, considering the NBA and other notable leagues already worked through this before, it feels unlikely they would have to shut everything down again. It will simply come down to playing in empty arenas because with the omicron variant floating around now, the chance of spreading is higher.

The Kings face the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night at home.
