The Dota 2 community showed their displeasure at a tweet by Dota 2 commentator Kyle “Swindlemelonzz” Freedman.

During the Team Liquid vs. Alliance match during the DreamLeague DPC WEU Winter Tour, Kyle reacted to a post-game webcam capture of Alliance. The team was celebrating their win in Game 2 over Team Liquid, which put the score to a 1-1 parity. Kyle would comment:

“Watching the postgame cams i thought Alliance had just 2-0'd Liquid and was like damn, then realized they were celebrating a 1-1 score? Much love guys but save the hugs for the real W damn”

Fans and other commentators alike would be quick to defend the team, who was simply celebrating a win in a matchup they are not favored to win. Ephey would say: “Love you Kyle but celebrating small wins can oftentimes be more important than big accomplishments.”

Another user called out Kyle for “policing” other people's celebrations.

Others stressed how important it is to celebrate progress, especially with how exhausting Dota is.

Kyle defended his comments, saying that he's looking after Alliance's ability to maintain their energy.

One of Alliance's players, Nikobaby, would comment on Kyle's thread, explaining how they deserve to celebrate taking a win from one of the league's best teams, especially in a non-bearing series like the one they were having at that time.

Alliance would go on to lose Game 3 of the series against Team Liquid.
