The late Kobe Bryant is the latest icon to join the NFT hype as a fan-led group is set to launch ‘The KB24 NFT Collection‘ which will hit the blockchain soon.

‘KB24' is one of the hundreds of thousands of NFT (or Non-Fungible Tokens) that have been released over the past couple of months. An NFT is a unique digital token that users and other collectors can purchase through cryptocurrency which uses blockchain technology. This particular NFT has a set price of 0.08 ETH (Ethereum) which roughly converts to $260. 10,000 editions will be available for sale on the project's official website. And, if you're familiar with how NFT projects go, it won't take long before ‘KB24' sells out.

These digital collectibles have garnered millions of dollars worth of sales as the NFT and cryptocurrency space continue to boom. The potential earnings from this particular drop has been allotted to go to charity as 100% of the proceeds will go directly to Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation – which the Los Angeles Lakers legend started himself.

“Our goal for this project is solely for charitable purposes, as 100% of all proceeds and revenue from the sale of The KB24 NFT will be donated to the Mamba & Mambacita Sports Foundation.” according to the KB24's official website.

In addition, the website also mentioned that any future profit made through secondary sales and other residual fees will continue to be donated to the same foundation.

This also isn't the first time the name Kobe Bryant has hit the blockchain. Just last month, a photo-centered NFT project was dropped in honor of Kobe as eight photosgraphs of the Lakers icon sold for more than $10,000 each.

Sports-inspired NFTs like NBA Top Shot has taken over the blockchain in 2021 while other players like Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers as well as Zion Williamson of the New Orleans Pelicans have ventured into their own NFT projects.
