Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James recently tweaked his ankle in their season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers. Despite the minor injury, the four-time NBA MVP insisted that he will be ready to play in their Christmas Day game as they host the visiting Dallas Mavericks.
“I turned it pretty good, but I don't think it's going to stop me from playing on Friday,” the Lakers star said via Bleacher Report. “So, have a couple days—you know how I am about treatment—so I'll do that around the clock, and I think I should be fine by then.”
“But I'll be around the clock,” James said. “I'll wake up [Wednesday] morning before I leave the house, and also I'll get some more treatment at the Lakers facility and just continue to do that. Like I said, we have a couple days, so I'll be fine.”
Spectrum SportsNet‘s Mike Trudell also revealed James' unconventional way of treating his injury: drinking wine.
LeBron quipped that he’ll drink some wine tonight, which will go directly to his ankle, and make it better.
In reality, he’ll “be around the clock” treating it as he does any injury. “I’ll be fine,” he added.

The Lakers' main man didn't get to play extensively against the Clippers as a precautionary measure for his injury and to preserve his health for the rest of the season. Despite the limited action on the floor, James still led the way with 22 points, five rebounds, and five assists through 28 minutes played.
He found help in Anthony Davis who chalked up 18 points and seven rebounds along with newcomer Montrezl Harrell who tallied 17 points and 10 rebounds. Despite their 20-point fightback midway through the tilt, the Lakers still came up short and ultimately succumbed to a 116-109 decision.
After their ring ceremony was spoiled by the Clippers' win in the opening day matchup, LeBron James and the rest of the Lakers will aim to score their first win at the expense of the Mavericks on Dec. 25.
