Veteran running back Adrian Peterson has been in the league long enough for his younger fans to actually be able to play with him on the gridiron. His arrival in the camp of the Detroit Lions caught many eyes especially those of 24-year old center Frank Ragnow.

“I was freaking out so much,” Ragnow said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “What year was he drafted, what was it like [2007] or something like that? I think I got a Adrian Peterson jersey right when he entered the league and I remember, A.D., All Day baby. I remember him running for 296 [yards] vs. the Chargers. I mean, wild. Just wild. I can’t even describe it. My family’s freaking out, all my friends back home are freaking out. It’s pretty cool.”

He said when he met Peterson at the office, he stuck with a simple: “Hey, I’m Frank.”

“[Inside I was like,] ‘I’m Frank and I’m from Minnesota and oh my God, oh my God,’ but I tried to keep it cool,” Ragnow said.

Younger football fans of today's generation can still recognize Peterson as he was able to put up respectable performances in previous seasons. He still racked up 898 rushing yards on 211 attempts and five rushing touchdowns in his 13th campaign in the league last season.

The Texas native is no longer the MVP he once was. But Adrian Peterson doesn't have any plans or ending his career anytime soon. He'll aim to prove that he can still be effective in modern-day football. It remains to be seen if the Lions' excitement over the arrival of a Hall of Famer would translate to success on the field in the upcoming season.
