Another hometown star is coming back home to Detroit. Aidan Hutchinson, the standout defensive end from Michigan, has been drafted by the Lions with the second overall pick in the NFL Draft. Hutchinson adds tenacity to a defense that has looked pretty good at times last season.

Aidan Hutchinson couldn't be more excited to stay in Michigan as he transitions to the pro scene. When asked by reporters, the new Lions defensive end spoke highly about playing for his new team, saying: (via Chris Burke)

“It feels great. It feels great to be home, once again. … Just to have the opportunity to play at home in front of a lot of the same fans, I'm so grateful and I can't tell you how excited I am.”

Hutchinson was one of the most highly coveted picks coming into the NFL draft, and for good reason. The Michigan defensive end was a monster last season, even finishing amongst the finalists for the Heisman Trophy. Now, he brings his elite rushing skills to the Lions, who have looked quietly solid last season despite their record.

The Lions drafting Hutchinson didn't exactly come as a surprise for anyone. The Jaguars were rumored to take Travon Walker with the first pick as early as the night before the draft. With Dan Campbell reportedly not liking Kayvon Thibodeaux, that left the home-town hero Hutchinson for Detroit.

The Lions didn't stop there in the draft, though. A few minutes after drafting Hutchinson, Detroit traded up to grab highly-touted wide receiver Jameson Williams with the 12th overall pick. The rebuild in Michigan is well underway, and the team has the prospects they want for the future.
