The Detroit Lions will be without their star running back D'Andre Swift for Sunday's divisional battle vs the Minnesota Vikings. That was expected following his shoulder sprain he suffered in last week's loss to the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving. But it is beginning to sound like he might be ready for Week 14 either, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Rapoport said that he feels like it is a long shot that D'Andre Swift will return for Week 14 either.

Swift is yet to be officially ruled out for this week, but that should come Friday.

The news is not all bad though. There are reports that the Lions are optimistic he will return in a couple of weeks. That is supported by the fact that the Lions have not placed him on the short term injured reserve designated for players who will miss three weeks.

In a season mired in failure, the lone bright spot for the Detroit Lions this year has been the play of D'Andre Swift. He has rushed for a team high 555 yards, and also added 429 yards receiving. Swift has grown into being one of the best dual threat running backs in the league.

He has scored six touchdowns as well, four rushing and two through the air.

The Lions drafted Swift in the 2nd round of the 2020 NFL Draft out of Georgia. He has lived up to that draft stock to this point.

It was thought that the Lions would going to run a two-man show this season after acquiring former Packers running back Jamaal Williams. But in a matter of a couple of games, Swift had wrestled the starting job away for himself.
