What a difference a year makes. In 2018, the Los Angeles Rams won 13 games and made it all the way to the Super Bowl. Sean McVay was a boy genius. Jared Goff was a rising star. Todd Gurley was the king of running backs.

One season later, the Rams went 9-7 and missed the playoffs. McVay lost a whole lot of luster. Goff was looking exposed. Gurley was looking finished.

Now, Los Angeles has to make adjustments.

Here are three major needs for the Rams this offseason:

3. Linebacker

Dante Fowler and Cory Littleton are both free agents, and you have to wonder how much Clay Matthews has left in the tank.

The Rams will probably need to pay through the noise to retain both Fowler and Littleton, so there seems to be a good chance that at least one of them will walk this offseason.

For that reason, Los Angeles will likely need to make some adjustments at the position this offseason.

It's also important to keep in mind that Wade Phillips is gone, so the Rams may switch to a 4-3 defense. That means LA may have to get some linebackers to fit a potentially new scheme.

2. The Rams Need A Running back

This one may seem a bit jarring, but it's the truth.

Gurley had a very rough season, rushing for 857 yards while averaging a meager 3.8 yards per game. It seems like that knee injury from 2018 is still bothering him, and it could very well become a chronic issue that plagues him from here on out.

He is still just 25 years old, so there is plenty of time for him to turn it around, but it's not looking too good right now.

Malcolm Brown doesn't exactly inspire a ton of confidence as a backup, and while Darrell Henderson just completed his rookie campaign, he wasn't very impressive.

Of course, the Rams' shoddy offensive line had something to do with their pitiful rushing attack, but there was a time in the not-so-recent past that that wouldn't have even mattered to Gurley.

He was, at worst, a top-three halfback in the NFL in 2018, but now, he looks like a shell of his former self.

It may be time for Los Angeles to add some more depth at the position for Gurley insurance.

1. Offensive Line Help

What was a strength of the Rams in 2018 ended up being a significant weakness in 2019.

Los Angeles' offensive line fell off a cliff this season, whether it was injuries or declining play across the board. Line anchor Andrew Whitworth is 38 years old and is set to be a free agent, and the Rams don't exactly have a whole lot of other talent along the unit.

There are already questions about whether or not Goff is truly a franchise quarterback and if LA overpaid for him, and having a porous offensive line will only compound those problems.

And if the Rams want to preserve Gurley, they better make sure to get him better blockers.

This should be a point of emphasis for Los Angeles this offseason.
