With the Notre Dame Fighting Irish still clearly in the hunt for a spot in the College Football Playoff, head coach Brian Kelly dropped a bombshell on his now ex-team last Tuesday by announcing that he is leaving South Bend for the SEC — as the next head coach of the LSU Tigers.

But whatever the Fighting Irish think or feel about Kelly right is not going to change the fact that he is now part of a different football program. A few days ago, Kelly was egging the Fighting Irish to beat the Stanford Cardinal on the road. A few days later, he finds himself speaking in front of LSU players, as he touches base with the football team for the first time. What a turnaround.

In his speech, Kelly explains to LSU players why he made the move to Baton Rouge.

“I wanted to coach the very best players in the country that are afforded the best resources in the country and play in the best conference in the country. That is an incredible challenge for a football coach, and I get that here, and I get a chance to work with the best athletic director, president, all in alignment to get to the end of winning a  national championship”

Kelly succeeds Ed Orgeron as LSU's head coach, and he can definitely expect that all eyes will be on him once he starts coaching the team in 2022.
