The TCU Horned Frogs made only two NCAA Tournaments in the 35 years which preceded coach Jamie Dixon's arrival in 2016. TCU is now in its second NCAA Tournament under Dixon, who is burnishing his credentials and enhancing his legacy by continuing to win with the Horned Frogs after all the great work he did at Pittsburgh for more than a decade. Dixon is winning at a high level at programs which do not have extensive basketball histories. He has changed the March Madness odds for TCU, just as he did at Pitt. Dixon never did make the Final Four at Pitt, but he came really close. In the talent-rich Fort Worth area, Dixon's ability to move the needle could enable him to continue to build the TCU program.

Dixon is still looking for a first NCAA Tournament win at TCU. The previous time he made the Big Dance, his sixth-seeded Frogs lost to 11th-seeded Syracuse. Dixon hopes to cross the threshold this time, and it's a powerful motivating factor for his team. This is something to contemplate when going over the details of a TCU Seton Hall prediction. TCU beat Texas in the Big 12 Tournament, so the Frogs have to think they can come away with a victory in this game against a team which is seeded lower than Texas in the NCAA Tournament. (Texas is a 6 seed, Seton Hall an 8 seed.)

When thinking about a TCU Seton Hall pick, consider the point that Seton Hall won at Creighton on a day when Kadary Richmond suffered an injury. The Pirates have been very tough and gritty in the face of adversity. They might not have a very high ceiling, but they do have a high floor, which is exactly how a flawed but skilled team gets a solid mid-level seed in the NCAA Tournament and wears home whites as a higher seed in the first round. Coach Kevin Willard has been linked to the open job at Maryland. He has turned Seton Hall into a program which annual makes the NCAA Tournament and is a threat to get hot and make the Sweet 16. The coaching matchup in this game is superb and one of the highlights of this 8-versus-9 game in the South Region bracket.

Why TCU Could Cover the Spread

The Horned Frogs will benefit from having played in the rugged Big 12. When a game gets ugly, the Frogs are ready to compete.

Why Seton Hall Could Cover the Spread

The Pirates' ability to win without key players shows how resourceful they are. They will have the answers in crunch time.

Final TCU-Seton Hall Prediction & Pick

This game feels like a one-possession game. There isn't much separating these teams, and it's a game you should frankly not bet on unless there's a detail you know which the larger public isn't aware of. If you had to bet, though, TCU is hungry for a long-sought NCAA Tournament win. The Frogs haven't won a Big Dance game since 1987, and have won only one NCAA Tournament game in 53 years. That could be the small motivational difference in a 50-50 game.

Final TCU-Seton Hall Pick: TCU +1
