The Los Angeles Chargers signed Mike Williams to a three-year, $60 million deal. Shortly after the news broke Tuesday afternoon, the Chargers posted the wide receiver's reaction to the team's Instagram story. NFL reporter Gilbert Manzano tweeted the clip of Williams smiling ear-to-ear after the deal was finalized.

The 27-year-old couldn't stop smiling, and who could blame him? He just scored a huge paycheck with the Chargers after his original, four-year deal with the team expired. Williams' entry-level contract was for $19,749,928. His new deal grants him $28 million in year one, which is well over what he earned his first four years in the league. The deal also includes $40 million guaranteed and an average annual salary of $20 million.

Of course, the insane pay increase and renewed with the Chargers wasn't just handed to Williams. He spent the last four seasons earning his starting position. Williams led the team in receiving yards with 1,146 in the 2021 regular season. He also recorded 76 receptions and nine receiving touchdowns last season.

With Williams on board for another three years, the league is down to 23 free agents from the Chargers including defensive tackle Linval Joseph and tight end Jared Cook.

Moving forward, Williams will continue to work alongside wide receiver Keenan Allen and quarterback Justin Herbert. The Chargers finished the regular season above .500 at 9-8, but weren't able to secure a spot in the postseason tournament.
