The New York Yankees had a big lead in the AL East for a good portion of this season, but the Toronto Blue Jays and Tampa Bay Rays are now right behind them. Both teams came into Wednesday trailing New York by less than two games, and it looked like the Blue Jays were easily going to move into a tie in first place as they are playing the Yankees. Toronto scored seven runs in the first inning of the game, and they were up 8-0 after three innings. However, the Yankees stormed back, and an Aaron Judge home run in the 8th inning tied the game at nine.

The Blue Jays were able to quickly reclaim the lead as they scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth to make it 11-9. The Yankees had one final chance in the ninth inning, but they didn't have anything left in the tank. Toronto went on to win this absolute thriller 11-9.

After the way that this game started, it was a miracle that the Yankees even made it close. The Blue Jays jumped on New York from the very beginning as two home runs and seven total runs came in during the first inning. At that point, it looked like the game was over, and it got worse for the Yankees before it got better.

The Blue Jays made it 8-0 in the third inning, and the Yankees were still scoreless when the game entered the fifth. That's when New York had its big surge.

Aaron Judge had a big hit in the sixth inning as well as he came up with an RBI double to make it an 8-3 game. The Yankees still had a lot of work to do, but they were chipping away. Things really got interesting when Giancarlo Stanton launcher a three-run homer to make it 8-6, and all of a sudden, we had a ball game.

The Yankees added one more run in the sixth to make it 8-7, but Toronto got a run back in the seventh inning to make it 9-7. Judge was able to tie the game up to complete the ridiculous comeback, but the Blue Jays weren't going to let this one slip away. With backs against the wall in the eighth, Toronto came through.

This is a massive win for the Blue Jays as blowing an 8-0 lead at home would've been an absolute disaster. Now, Toronto is tied with Aaron Judge and the Yankees for first place in the AL East.

Toronto will look to take sole possession of first place on Thursday when these two teams meet again. The Blue Jays and Yankees will get underway at 7:07 ET from Rogers Centre in Toronto. Clarke Schmidt will be on the rubber for the Yankees, and Chris Bassitt will take the hill for the Blue Jays.
