Today, Visual Concepts unveiled brand new information about NBA 2K24's The City. Set in a new beachfront location with new activities, side quests, and affiliations, The City in NBA 2K24 holds more content than ever before. Despite MyCAREER being a more streamlined experience now, The City still offers plenty of activities and beautiful sights to see.

As we approach NBA 2K24's release date, Visual Concepts decided to save the best news for last. The month of August has been a busy one for Visual Concepts, as they've shown almost everything new with their latest NBA title.

For current gen players, NBA 2K24 brings a revamped Neighborhood that still offers exciting features and locations to explore. However, things like ProPLAY technology and The City are only a part of NBA 2K24's gameplay for next-gen players.

NBA 2K24's The City Brings Brand New Mode In Beautiful Beachfront Location

The City this year is a Miami-esque beachfront style location with white sand beaches, beachfront courts, and decorated streets. The days are sunny, and the nights are brightened up neon lights to provide breathtaking views 24/7.

3v3 beachfront courts near the waters give you an opportunity to flex your skills and maybe make some friends. The beachfront street is also home to:

  • The Pro-Am
  • The REC
  • Ante-Up
  • Theater
  • Club 2K
  • All-New Starting 5 buildings

Starting 5 Mode

Starting 5 is a brand new online 1v1 mode where you challenge other players using your MyPLAYER along with four other NBA players. In each game, you choose a team, putting yourself in the starting lineup.

The City Brings An All-New Streetball Side Quest In The Latest NBA 2K Game

Outside of MyCAREER is a brand new streetball side quest that you can do whenever you get tired of playing professionally. This mode adds more flare to NBA 2K24's gameplay.

Three courts throughout the city offer challenging bosses and teams to take on. During the match you'll notice the environment is completely different from typical NBA 2K games. You'll see an MC, a DJ, and a crowd rushing to the court.

In Streetball players get an entirely new progression system with opportunities to earn takeover perks. More rewards are also available through the mode by completing the unique challenges it provides.

So in case you want something different from MyCAREER but still want to keep balling, Streetball offers that experience. NBA 2K24 truly does prioritize basketball over everything else, which we really appreciate. Hopefully this means no more hot dog side quests, too.

The Streetball sidequest adds more content to NBA 2K24's gameplay but still keeps the focus on basketball, which is much appreciated.

REP Returns To NBA 2K24's City With Two New Affiliations

In previous NBA 2K games, Affiliations were broken into four groups. However, NBA 2K24's The City hosts only two this year, RISE and ELITE. Each season, the two affiliations duke it out for chances to earn prizes and rewards for their side.

The RISE Affiliation is a Atlantis-themed group with cool Poseidon and Kraken-themed statues and structures. The ELITE, on the other hand, is a futuristic affiliation full of neon lights and a very science fiction-like design. Choosing who you want to join matters since both sides face each other each season, as we mentioned before.

When starting out in NBA 2K24's The City, you need to do your research on who you want to join. Feel free to speak with Chris Manning in ELITE or Shakedown in RISE to learn more about which affiliation is for you. When it's all said and done, compete with your affiliation for a chance to earn REP.

Indeed, REP returns to NBA 2K24. Players earn REP by playing games and compete in an effort to join the Top 10 and maintain their spot. Being in the top 10 earns you a special logo among other rewards for Top 10 players. But fall out of the Top 10 and you lose those rewards, so make sure to keep up with your fellow players.

Fortunately, REP does not reset at the end of each season, but it does reset when you switch Affiliations.

And that's everything new with NBA 2K24's The City. The NBA 2K team also released info on MyCAREER, which ClutchPoints has a dedicated article on. Feel free to check it out as we approach NBA 2K24's release date next week.

We're excited for all the new changes in NBA 2K24, which seems to focus primarily on basketball, while honoring the late L.A. Lakers Legend, Kobe Bryant.
