The Charlotte Hornets ended up on the losing end against the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday, 118-111. For Hornets guard LaMelo Ball, however, the rookie made it a point to keep fighting to the very end. Ball, who was also responsible for an awesome highlight-reel play early in the contest, pulled off a sneaky steal on Sixers star big man Joel Embiid, which actually led to the final scoreline eclipsing the over/under mark.

Here's a look at Ball coming out of nowhere to swipe the rock from behind Embiid, which quickly turned into a wide-open three-pointer for the 19-year-old (h/t ClutchPoints on Twitter):

For what it's worth, the over/under spread for this game was set at 226 points. Prior to Ball's steal and triple, the score was at 114-106, which summed up to just 220 points. Ball's trey closed the gap, which prompted the Hornets to play the foul game in the dying moments. The contest ultimately ended 118-111, with the 229 final spread going over the 226-mark by three points. Bettors who placed their money on the over spread will have to thank Ball for saving the night for them.

Some might consider Ball's last-moment swipe to be uncalled for considering how the game had already been decided at that point. Nevertheless, the rook looked like a true vet in this one, with Ball reminding Embiid and the Sixers that the game isn't truly over until the final buzzer goes off.
