The Charlotte Hornets were bested by the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA Play-In Tournament in a frustrating, 132-103 loss on Wednesday night. One of the Hornets' best young players, Miles Bridges, didn't put forth his best performance, as he scored just 12 points, was in foul trouble and finished a minus-30 for the game. Bridges' frustrations boiled over when he threw his mouthpiece into the crowd, hitting a fan. The Hornets forward spoke out on his ‘unacceptable' actions following the game, per ESPN.

“I was aiming for the guy that was screaming at me and it hit a little girl,” Bridges said. “So that's definitely unacceptable on my part and I take full responsibility. … That's out of character for me. You've been around me; I don't act like that or ever flash out like that. So that was definitely wrong, a lot of emotions and hopefully I can get in contact with the young girl and sincerely apologize to her and do something nice for her, but that's definitely on me.”

Bridges, ejected from the game following his second technical foul of the night, aimed his mouthpiece at a fan who was yelling at him- and hit a young girl in the stands instead. The Hornets forward made sure to say that his actions during the NBA Play-In Tournament were “unacceptable” and “out of character.”

The Hornets' rising star expressed hope that he can get in touch with the young girl and “do something nice for her”, which would be a welcome gesture from Bridges after his actions from Wednesday night.

It's frustrating that Bridges' career year and the Hornets' fun season had to end in the NBA Play-In Tournament. However, Bridges knows he can't act the way he did on Wednesday.

He is taking the steps to make it right.
