The NBA announced on Thursday that it would be fining Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges $50,000 in response to an incident following the Hornets' 132-103 NBA Play-In Tournament loss to the Atlanta Hawks.

The fine comes after Bridges was called for goaltending mid-way through the fourth quarter of Wednesday night's game, and proceeded to go after NBA official James Williams who subsequently tossed Bridges after two technical fouls. Bridges reluctantly left the game and headed toward the locker room. On his way to the back, Bridges encountered a fan who was yelling in his direction. Bridges turned around in response to the fan and threw his mouthpiece which hit a young 16-year-old female fan standing behind the man near her shoulder.

Miles Bridges immediately took to Twitter to try and make things right with the young lady in attendance.

“I was aiming for the guy that was screaming at me and it hit a little girl,” Bridges said. “So that's definitely unacceptable on my part and I take full responsibility. … That's out of character for me. You've been around me; I don't act like that or ever flash out like that.

“So that was definitely wrong, a lot of emotions and hopefully I can get in contact with the young girl and sincerely apologize to her and do something nice for her, but that's definitely on me.”

The Hornets' blowout loss to the Hawks ended Charlotte's season on Wednesday, marking the beginning of an offseason where Miles Bridges is looking to land a huge extension after turning down a $60 million extension last year.
