ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski bared the league's desire to include Charlotte Hornets rookie LaMelo Ball in this year's All-Star Game skills competition. The 19-year-old guard is currently leading the rookie class in almost every statistical category thus far. But what's stood out the most is the youngster's passing ability. It's no wonder the NBA is absolutely drooling at the possibility of showcasing his talents during All-Star festivities.
Ball has shown his capability to score and make plays for his teammates in the early stages of his rookie campaign. He is currently averaging 14.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in 27.3 minutes played through 27 appearances this season. He even bumped his numbers after he was named as a starter back in early February. Whenever he is included in the Hornets' starting lineup, the rookie is averaging 21.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 6.0 assists in 33.8 minutes of action in seven contests.

Apart from his performance on the floor, Ball would certainly be a blockbuster attraction for an All-Star Game that was met with heavy criticism as of late.
A handful of the league's marquee stars in LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo already expressed their dismay over the plans to host an All-Star Game this season due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
However, putting a highly-acclaimed rookie in the spotlight would certainly attract more people to tune in on this year's mid-season festivities. Gaining revenue from the increased viewership in the All-Star Weekend will also help the league recuperate from the huge financial losses that have been absorbed over the past year.
With LaMelo Ball's potential inclusion, Miami Heat forward Bam Adebayo is also expected to defend his crown in this year's All-Star Game skills competition.
