It really pays to examine the details of the card you’re going to buy online. Otherwise, you’re going to end up with a ridiculous purchase that will haunt you for the rest of your life. Case in point, this poor imitation of Charlotte Hornets youngster LaMelo Ball’s Rookie Patch Autograph card posted on eBay.

The card, listed by reeves_34, features a hilarious drawing of Ball, his autograph, and a couple of boxes that resemble a jersey patch. Panini’s trademarked RC Shield is found on the upper left, while a One of One logo is on the other end.

This card imitation could have been posted on eBay as a simple prank just this week. What started as an innocent attempt has turned into a circus of sorts. As of this moment, the listing has attracted 87 bids, catapulting the price to an insane amount of $80,700. A disclaimer was later added to explain that the pictured item is an art card depicting LaMelo Ball’s supposed RPA offering.

Currently, the only RPA cards of Ball on eBay feature him during his pre-NBA career. The most expensive of these cards is a 2020 Panini Flawless Platinum RPA 1/1, which was auctioned off for $13,400. Obviously, this is a far cry from the amount Ball’s fake RPA is now commanding.

Those who are interested in hunting LaMelo Ball’s true RPA in a Charlotte Hornets jersey will have to wait for a couple of months for Panini to release it. For sure, the official product will be far more valuable and captivating than its poor counterpart on eBay right now, especially once Ball returns from his wrist surgery.
