Karl Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves figured in a heated battle against Zach LaVine and the Chicago Bulls at Target Center on Sunday. But once the final horn sounded, it was nothing but love between the two former teammates.

The two All-Stars were joined by KAT's father, Karl Anthony Towns Sr., and had a touching moment at mid-court in the aftermath of the Wolves' close 121-117 win over the Bulls.

The trio exchanged some pleasantries and a big group hug on Sunday, on the first death anniversary of KAT's mother Jacqueline Towns. She passed away last year due to complications from COVID-19 and was honored by the Wolves organization with a beautiful gesture before the game.

The team reserved a courtside seat for Jacqueline, who was a fixture in Timberwolves games when she was still alive.

LaVine, meanwhile, was there to offer some emotional support to the Towns family. The now Bulls superstar started his NBA career in the Twin Cities when the Wolves drafted him 13th overall in 2014. Towns joined the team a year later and developed a lasting bond with the high-flying guard.

Towns and LaVine figured in an epic duel for 42 minutes. LaVine did win their head-to-head, finishing with a game-high 30 points, seven boards, and six assists. KAT, on the other hand, had a near triple-double with 27 points, 12 rebounds, eight dimes, and two rejections.
